Halle Maria Berry was born, his father, Jerome Berry African-American, was a former hospital assistant, and Caucasian mother Judith Berry, a retired nurse psychiatry. His parents divorced when she was four. During high school in Bedford, Ohio, Berry was a cheerleader, class president, member of the honor society, fashion editor of the school newspaper and the Queen of dance.
